Sunday Walks

Sunday Walks
This pub is in the most idyllic setting imaginable with traditional features in abundance and located right next to an ambling river and surrounded by wonderful countryside. Needless-to-say there are a wealth of walks in the area. This is a short one we have selected but please ask the landlord if you require a longer walk. The pub is very popular in the summer months with outdoor seating areas. It was awarded Hampshire Food Pub of the Year and therefore advance table reservations are recommended. Walkers and their dogs are welcome at The Bush Inn, but we would like to respectfully remind you to only eat and drink refreshments purchased from the pub. Wonderful, traditional destinations such as The Bush can only survive for your enjoyment if used properly. Allow 1hr Underfoot: The paths are well trodden and easy walking. This really is a very beautiful walk encompassing breathtaking wildlife and historical features. Walk from The Bush Inn car park towards the road. Just after the pub garden take the path on the left over a wooden footbridge which crosses the Itchen. Follow the path – an island between two rivers to its natural end. Turn right over the footbridge and follow Water Lane past a number of wonderful timber-framed cottages. At the end of the lane turn right and cross the road to visit the church. It is normally locked but is opened by a local lady and a booklet on sale outlines the amazing history of this building. Re-cross the road to carry on along the paved footpath. The scenery is lovely if you look to your right across the park down to the Itchen. Take the next turning on your right. A small road heading back down towards the river. Follow the road to a ford (with small bridge for walkers). Beyond the ford the lane becomes picturesque stroll past Ovington Mill – a single track road which steps you back in time. Join another narrow lane and turn right to lead you back to The Bush Inn.
